Abstract

Abstract

ABSTRACTBackground : Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative joint disease that causes inflammation of the cartilage due to the load that is often received by the joints. The knee joint is a part that is often affected by OA. Radiographic and CT examinations can be used to check for OA of the knee. Radiographic examination has the advantage of optimally displaying OA because the examination is carried out under weight bearing conditions, and CT is superior in displaying anatomical details due to cross sectional and 3D reconstruction. Technological developments present Cone Beam CT (CBCT) weight bearings that combine the advantages of radiographic and CT examinations. The purpose of this study is to determine the role and benefits of CBCT weight bearing on knee joint image information in cases of OA.Method : This type of research is literature review research with a narrative review approach. The databases used in the review articles include Science Direct, ProQuest, PubMed, DOAJ, Google Scholar, Wiley Online Library, ISI Web of Knowledge, and the Oxford Journal. The articles that have been obtained will be processed in tabulated form for later extraction.Result : The results of this study indicate that weight bearing is able to assess degeneration causing internal rotation in the range of +/- 2.8-3.1o, lateral patellar shift up to +/- 0.4 mm, joint space width (JSW) up to +/- 0.5 mm, meniscal extrusion (ME) up to +/- 10.2 mm. Conclusion : CBCT is used to obtain volumetric and cross sectional 3D knee images, in order to obtain images with high spatial resolution with low doses, detailed bone structure images, short scan times, visualization of narrowing and progression of OA in JSW clearly, visualization of OA in the menisci, as well as visualizing the complexity of the joint and soft tissue images so that OA is easily identified.

Abstract

Background: One variation of pulse sequence used in MRI Brain examination is Diffusion Weighted Image (DWI). In the DWI sequence, the value of 'b' which the operator must choose when setting the parameters, affects the signal intensity. In radiology installations, radiographers often use a 'b' value of 1000 s/mm2 with various pathologies. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of setting the value of 'b' (1000.1500.2000 s/mm2) on image information and to determine the best setting of the three selected 'b' values in generating DWI signals for cases of intracranial tumors. Methods: This research is experimental study. This research uses MR GE 1.5 Tesla. 6 radiographic images were created with three 'b' value settings. Three radiologists then assessed areas of white matter, gray matter, proc. coronoid, basal ganglia and tumor lesions. The results were then analyzed using the Friedman statistical test. Results: The results showed that there were differences in signal intensity and image quality between the three setting values of 'b' with p value 0.005. The mean rank indicates that the best setting 'b' value in producing high signal intensity in Basal ganglia, Proc. coronoid and tumor lesions is 1500 s/mm2 (Mean rank: 2.75 and 2.42). then for white matter and gray matter the best 'b' value setting is 1000 s/mm2 (average rating: 2.50).Conclusion: There is a significant difference in MRI Brain image information with variations in the "b" values of 1000 s/mm2, 1500 s/mm2 and 2000 s/mm2 with pulse sequence Diffusion Weighted Imaging (DWI) using GE 1.5 Tesla MRI modality in patients with intracranial tumors (p 0.05). Keyword : DWI , ‘b’ value,  Brain, Tumor, image information

Abstract

ABSTRACTStroke is damage to brain tissue due to disruption of blood flow to the brain. One of the effects that occur in stroke patients is weakness on one side of the body, such as the upper extremity. Exercises to stimulate movement in the hands can be in the form of active-assistive ROM cylindrical grip and spherical grip. The purpose of this research is to identify research articles that describe the use of ROM cylindrical grip and spherical grip to increase upper extremity muscle strength in stroke patients. Design this research is a literature review study. Article searches were carried out comprehensively through a database of national and international indexed research journals with the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The types of research articles are quasi experiment, pre-experimental study, and retrospective study. The research articles obtained were 11 articles, analyzed and synthesized in a tabular format. The results of the literature review is active-assisted ROM cylindrical grip and spherical grip are used as limb movement exercises in the rehabilitation process for stroke patients, namely cylindrical grip ROM, spherical grip both using simple tools (tissue rolls, baseball) as well as technological innovations that have developed such as Robot-assisted Therapy, 3D immersive virtual reality, and Hand Extension Robot Orthosis (HERO) Grip Glove. The conclusion of this study is ROM cylindrical grip and spherical grip are used as post-stroke rehabilitation exercises that are useful for training muscle strength, especially when gripping, preventing joint stiffness, as well as in carrying out daily activities. ABSTRAKStroke adalah kerusakan jaringan otak akibat terganggunya alirah darah menuju otak.
